Today, during my lunchbreak a friendly young man knocked on my door and asked if he might take a photo of the mill. "Well, of course Sir, no problem at all." I replied. I then learned that he had brought his family: a husband and wife and their two daughters. They had flown in from Malaysia and had never seen a Dutch windmill before. Hence, the young man decided to drive them to Slochteren.
Of course, I offered them to visit the mill and take a look inside. They were keen on learning and hence I told them about the history of the mill, how it was build and of it's use. Now, of course, we get a lot of visitors, but it isn't everyday that we get folks over from Malaysia. We parted as good friends and I was heartily thanked for my efforts. Thank you and I hope to see you again some day! |
