Today is a very special day: Nalin Amarathunga from Sri Lanka visits the oldest still functioning drainage mill of our Province (molen van de Groote Polder). I am very happy to receive Nalin on "my" mill. I show him around and explain a bit about the history of the old mill and how the instrument works. Nalin is impressed: in Sri Lanka they do not have any mills at all, he explains, instead they have a gravitation driven watering system. He takes a lot of photographs, to show to his family later. After an hour, we part as good friends. It does not matter where one is born: you can always appreciate a Dutch windmill!
